Sggt. Octavio Sanchez

Staff Sergeant Sanchez suffered third degree burns over 70 percent of body and facial areas in 2005 when a makeshift roadside bomb detonated at his location in Ramadi, Irag while he was serving as a squad leader with the 5th Marines Charlie Company.

Stand & Salute

Stand & Salute American Heroes is a MAJOR program of Our Fallen Soldier, the parent organization of Our Heroes Journey.

Stand & Salute American Heroes (SASAH) is a program set in place to bring honor to our true American Heroes. To date SASAH has honored over 40 heroes from across the country from all branches of service. These heroes are honored in various settings and come from all theaters of service and war. Many are Purple Heart recipents, although that is not a requirement to recieve this award.

Stand & Salute American Heroes works with major and minor professional sports teams and venues around the country to plan honor events for our American Heroes. These events are a time for our heroes to “shine” in the public eye and for the general public to offer their thanks for the service and sacrifice of these brave and courageous service members have given to ensure the FREEDOM and liberation of others.

Sometimes these events are planned in much smaller venues, such as a VFW, American Legion or private community centers. Other times they take place in the privacy of a service members home. Each honor event is planned with the Hero we are honoring in mind.

Together with our MVP’s (Most Valuable Partners) from across the country… our American Heroes are presented with gifts of “Thanks”. These gifts are presented at the event and come from all over the country. We are honored to have many generous partners that offer their support and time to make these HONOR events special for our Heroes.
