Cheers for Heroes

Our Heroes’ Journey started the Cheers for Heroes program to bring smiles to combat wounded veterans and vets who are living in nursing facilities or hospitals around the country. Together with our wonderful volunteers, we send cards and care packages to make sure all our veterans are remembered during the holidays.

How Cheers for Heroes Works

Operation Cheers for Heroes requires us to coordinate directly with staff members at VA hospitals in each state. Since the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1986 (HIPAA) protects our veterans’ sensitive personal information, we don’t ever know our heroes’ names or why they’re hospitalized—but we do know that every service member, current or former, deserves to be remembered all year long.

Our dedicated volunteers send the cards and care packages we gather to our points of contact at each hospital. From there, they’re distributed to those who could use a little pick-me-up.

Want to Put a Smile on a Veteran’s Face?

Our Heroes’ Journey is always looking for more volunteers to ensure no veteran feels alone during the holidays. They’ve given so much for our freedoms, and they deserve to know how grateful we are.

If you work at a VA hospital or know someone who does, please let us know if we can spread the cheer to the veterans in your care by filling out the form below. If you’d like to set aside some of your own valuable time to ensure our veterans in hospitals and nursing homes know they aren’t forgotten, we’d love to have you on board.

Our Heroes’ Journey always accepts monetary donations, as well. Even “small” donations go a long way to provide service members, veterans and their families with the things they need; that’s because we commit 94 cents of every dollar to helping heroes in need.

Our Heroes’ Journey is an all-volunteer organization and a 501 (c)3 charity.

I work in a high school classroom for students with special needs/disabilities… We wanted to make thank you cards for Vetern’s Day & the holidays. Is there an address that we can mail our cards to?

I am so sorry for the late response, we had a huge response this year to this program. All cards will be distributed to our veterans at some point. Whatever we were able to get out before Christmas were distributed to the VA centers by Mid December, The rest will be distributed throughout the year or next Christmas. Thank you for your dedication and kindness to our Nations Veterans. It is greatly appreciated!
